Introduction
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is going to announce the schedule for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 in phases due to India’s upcoming Lok Sabha elections later this year. With ten teams challenging for the trophy, approximately 74 matches are expected to be played, maybe divided into two parts depending on the elections.
Schedule Announcement Process:
The schedule is being decided internally, but the Home Ministry and Election Commission of India need to approve election dates before a public announcement can be made.
IPL Venue:
Despite the upcoming elections, the IPL will not take place outside of India. The entire league will be held within the country, similar to the 2019 season, which occurred with the General Elections.
Stage-wise Schedule Release:
The schedule will be announced in phases, as it has been in the past. The early match dates will be published first, followed by the full schedule, which includes qualifiers, eliminators, and the final.
The IPL’s stepwise approach is trying to ensure smooth coordination with the voting process while keeping the tournament’s excitement and integrity.
